2024 Literary Arts Fellowship in Poetry
I was thrilled to hear from Literary Arts that I was one of the 2024 recipients of an Oregon Literary Arts Fellowship. It was my third time applying, first time I sent my poetry. I’d submitted in non-fiction twice before — hoping for a boost to my NF creative projects “Oh Honey” (my memoir), and “Undressed” (a book of braided essays).
Since arriving in OR in 2019, I’ve not had as much time to focus on my personal writing. My other career mostly took over my life as I reestablished myself after living on grad student income since 2011 (with a short stint as a digital content creator for online classes and some freelance grant work here and there). I’ll use the award money to fund at least 1 writer retreat, but mostly it’s just a huge affirmation to be to keep working on my craft. ~ Jessica
